Hello, my dear Readers! This is probably gonna end up a pretty long post, mostly due to my rambling style, but bear with me, it’s all important.
I have opened a Patreon account. It has been something I had been considering for a long time, but always hesitated to do. Mostly because in consideration that I had gone awol twice previously, I was not sure whether I was ready to commit to this blog.
And this is pretty much me declaring commitment. To this whole affair. Of BL translating. No running off again.
Which is why I spent the last week in quite a frenzy, trying to figure out how this thing is going to work.
One problem I faced was that my Japanese novels have widely varying chapter length, and splitting them in equal portions would very much ruin the flow, so I couldn’t promise a set amount of updates per week in my goals. That’s why I went with it a bit different – when I reach a goal I increase the amount of pages I translate daily.
Currently the starting goal is just 50$, which guarantees that for six days every week week I will translate two pages every day. At 100$ it will be increased to 3 pages per day.
This means the updates will remain slightly irregular, but the fact I’m translating more means that I’m done with a book quicker.
Currently I have 4 tiers available. starting from 1$ to 15$ dollars. Each have acess to slightly more early updates. More will be added if this thing goes well, and I begin to translate more, and develop a bigger library. One thing to note is that 1$ tier currently has no early access to updates, but that will change with the next update, and they will get 1 early update, which means the rest move up an update as well.
The tier system is in developing stage still, but I hope to have it settled by beginning of summer.
On that note though, I also have thought about other things I can offer besides updates that would make the patronage more tempting. My current ideas is a monthly fanart of whatever project I’m working on, or a oneshot fanfic of whatever theme the patrons might find interesting (Like a Secret Nights in The Inner Palace Sekka pregnancy fic). But that is all for future consideration.
Also the Patreons will receive the pdf/epub/mobi copy of the edited Secret Nights in the Inner Palace when I’m finally done with it. It’s been a lot more work than I expected, so I decided to make it Patreon-exclusive at least for now.
One extra thing that I currently have added are all the unedited chapters of my original novel as a little extra. That is you can find chapters 5-8 on it, depending on your tier.
As for the money part of it will go back to this blog, in the form of upgrading my plan and acquiring a domain. One reason for this need is that sooner or later I will reach the limit of storage space for the novel illustrations and any other art I might upload. The money will also be put into buying other BL books for translation. I have a small collection, but there’s always the chance I stumble upon something more interesting that I’d deem would be more interesting for my readers.
I have chosen the charge upfront option, which means you get charged immediately on becoming a patreon no matter the date, but if you choose to continue the patronage the next month, and the one after that and so on, you will be billed on the 1st of every month.
